Hello all!
We will be applying some of our studies in Jesus' parables around hospitality and stewardship by hosting a "Great Banquet" this Thursday, March 24th in Clubspace from 5:00-7pm. That being said, the Great Banquet needs your help! We are in need of people willing to make chili and/or cornbread (if you don't know how or don't have the necessary supplies, that is okay, we will help you out & this is a great opportunity to learn & receive a life-long skill). Please let Robyn (robyn.howitt[at]gmail[dot]com) know if you are able to contribute!!!
We will be meeting in Clubspace at 4:30pm to pray and do any last-minute prep. All are welcome to help with this. We are in need of prayer intercession for the evening as well as greeters/welcomers to all who show up. We will be handing out verbal & paper invitations around 5/5:30pm in and around the student center until our dinner is filled, people are fed, and there is no food left.
LOOKING AHEAD...
This Saturday, March 26th we will be gathering as a community to worship, pray in our 2011-12 leadership team, pray out our graduates, and generally enjoy each other's company with dinner and games. This will be at 4:30pm at 57 Barclay Street (Joshua's). Please note this is the new (and improved!) location, NOT where was stated in last week's email. Dinner will be provided; please feel free to bring a salad, dessert, and/or $2 to contribute if you are able. Please also bring your favourite games and/or people.
And, are you tired of this announcement yet? I will stop advertising if/when everyone registers for city/script. It is worthwhile to consider starting your summer with city/script, I promise.

What is City/Script?
City/Script is six days of intensive Bible Study for university students from across Ontario. During our time in the text of Mark and Genesis, we will be asking questions, finding answers, and seeing anew the word of God in the context of a community of fellow-students. During the week we will explore neighbourhoods in Toronto to understand deeper the message God has for us about this world and His place for us in it.
City/Script is an in-depth exploration of God's word, engaging our heart, soul, mind and strength. The conversation is open, honest, and alive. Are you ready to grow in your knowledge, and understanding of God's word? Are you ready to be challenged to follow Him more truly and completely?
When: Sunday, May 1, 3 PM until Saturday May 7, 1 PM
Cost: $450--Includes all meals, accommodation and study materials.

The year is coming to a close but we aren't quite finished yet! Here are some upcoming events that may provide some much needed socializing and/or study breaks during this season.
THURS MARCH 17 (that's THIS Thursday!) - Encounter: Leading for Transformation launch!!
Our very own Howard Nanes will be launching his leadership resource at 5:30pm - 7pm in Clubspace
Come out to support Howie, check out his new (free!) book, mingle with the author & other students, and get an intellectual sampling (Howard will be reading a snippet from this resource) as well as a delicious-type sampling (there will be food).
And, from the author himself, "I will be releasing my leadership resource called "Encounter: Leading for Transformation." It is a resource made with university students/small group leaders in mind, but will be helpful to any Christian partaking in any leadership role, a role that we are all called to. As an introduction to the resource I will give a brief message on leadership as followership."

Our small groups have been studying Jesus' parables and will be hosting a "Great Banquet" ala Luke 14:15-24
Your ticket into this dinner will involve getting an invitation AND/OR giving an invitation. Invitations will be given out the week of and also the day of.

We will be gathering as a community to worship together and introduce & pray in our new leadership team for the 2011-12 year. It is in community that we are able to support, affirm, and celebrate with each other so let's celebrate! We will also get the chance to commission and send out our graduates and those leaving our community with prayer and celebration. IF YOU ARE GRADUATING we want you here so that we can commission and pray for you! There will be food & games afterward.

It's Emily here! I hope all are doing well in the midst of midterm and assignment season!
I'm working with Christine and Karen to get IVCF's club status back for next year, and this requires some information from you! Yes, you!!!
The club application requires that we list at least 10 individuals (and their student numbers that would be members of the group next year). Therefore, it would be greatly appreciated if you are an MSU member (full-time student), if you could please reply to this email (macivcf@gmail.com) with your full name and student number. We need to get the forms in soon, so how about you just send it now!

CITY/SCRIPT IS ONCE AGAIN UPON US!
"The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God."
And with that sentence, everything changes. Do you get it?
Come on out to the 7th annual "city/script", this May! "city/script" is an incredible week of intensive scripture study with fellow students from across Ontario. Join us as we dive into Mark and Genesis this year, and let scripture speak for itself in community. This has been an incredibly moving and transformative experience for the better part of the last decade for hundred of students. Come hear what exactly Jesus is saying and doing in scripture!
