This year, we as a MacVCF community would like to put into action what we are learning in our small group bible studies, and support RIDE FOR REFUGEES.

We want to invite you to participate in this event by either signing up as a team member, or contributing to our team financially--any donation is appreciated.

Its a bike-a-thon, with the following distances:
10 km (all on rail trail)
25 km (half on rail trail, half on road)
50 km (all on road)
100 km (all on road)

Website: www.rideforrefugees.com

The money is allocated as follows:
50% of what each team earns goes to a refugee organization of their choice.
50% goes to other costs: 10-15% goes to the event cost, the rest goes to pre-designated refugee organizations over the world.

So, why are we doing this, you ask? Have a gander...

As a community of Christian students at McMaster University, we see that Ride for Refugees is a way for us to put into action what we are learning in our small group bible studies. When Jesus taught in his hometown of Nazareth, he quoted Isaiah 61, saying that God had anointed him to proclaim release to captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to bind up the broken-hearted, and to preach good news to the poor. As we serve Jesus, we believe that serving the poor and displaced is one way we can follow Jesus. Ride for Refugees is a great way for us to put our faith into action, showing our love for God as we serve those he loves.

Please support the cause if you can. And if you are able to sign up as part of the team to ride, that'd be awesome as well!
